ABOUT THE GAME

Blackberry Honey is set in mid-19th century England. This is a story about maids, music, and an unexpected romance. The story begins when our heroine, Lorina Waugh, is fired from her old job as a maid at the stately Hartwell House. With a large family in Liverpool to support and a series of nasty comments circulating about her rather abrupt dismissal, Laurina’s search for a new job leads her to Bligh.

Forced to work fourteen-hour days with little chance of rest, Lorina is bullied by the maids and, most embarrassingly, by the Lennard family’s twelve-year-old daughter, Lady Constance. One of the only maids who deigns to talk to Lorina is the mysterious Taohua, but Lorina does not want to do this. Despite her low status, Taohua has her own room, never goes to church with other servants, and rarely socializes with anyone.

Her aloof, almost feline nature, combined with her idiosyncratic complexion, eyes, and name, has given rise to much speculation in the Shropshire countryside that she may be a witch. Lorina knows that she should stay away from Taohua and desperately wants to do so… but maybe there is some truth in all the rumors because she soon finds herself under the spell of an old woman.
